Perrin and the popsicle

Disclaimer: If you're the type of person who thinks it's bad parenting to give a baby a few tiny tastes of a low-calorie, real fruit popsicle, please do not scroll down any further.

Okay, so I couldn't resist. He's just so darn cute! Enjoy...

  2. Ooo, ooo. I know this one! He licks it backwards b/c babies have a natural reflex to push their tongues out first before they swallow anything. It's so they'll compress the milk ducts before they swallow, that way they are able to keep getting milk after the let down reflex kicks in, (it's sort of his 'demand' to your 'supply'.) I think it's called the extrusion reflex, and he'll respond to anything in his mouth that way for the first half-year or so, every baby's different, tho. It's why when you first start solids he'll just spit them out... not necessarily that he doesn't like them, it's just his extrusion reflex.
